The Kayi tribe is considered one of the Turkish tribes that descend from the origins of the Turkish Oguz peoples and it is one of the branches of the Buzuz tribal federation.

Osman I the founder of the Ottoman Empire belongs to this tribe and is the son of Artgrel Ghazi son of Suleiman Shah.

The word “kayi” means a person who has power and authority (in Turkish: muhkem kuvvet ve kudret sahibi).

Its logo drawn in white on a blue banner symbolizes two arrows and a nobility (in Turkish: İKİ OK BİR YAY) meaning an arrow for the enemy and an arrow for a traitor and the bow that is the arm of the Kai fighter.

The slogan is similar to the word “iyi” in modern Turkish which means good or good.
