What is Ocean Mummy Multivitamin?

Ocean Mummy is a multivitamin product formulated for use by expectant mothers, containing omega-3 and minerals. Many of the 10 vitamins and 4 mineral types it contains are at levels that meet daily requirements.

The primary functions of the substances in the Ocean Mummy formula:

• Supplemental folic acid intake increases the folate level of the expectant mother. Low folate level is a risk factor for neural tube defects in fetal development.*
• Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) intake by the mother contributes to the normal brain and normal eye development of the fetus and breastfed infants.**
• Vitamins B6, B12, and Iron play a role in the formation of red blood cells.
• Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, Folic Acid, C, and the minerals Iron and Iodine contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
• Vitamins B6, B12, D, and C, and the minerals Zinc, Iron, and Selenium help the normal function of the immune system.

*The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily supplemental intake of 400 µg folic acid for at least one month before and up to three months after conception.

**The beneficial effect for pregnant or breastfeeding women is obtained with an additional daily intake of 200 mg DHA to the recommended daily intake for adults of omega-3 fatty acids (e.g., 250 mg DHA and EPA).
