The scientific name of bitter gourd is Momordica charantia. Bitter melon is a plant belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family and grows in tropical and subtropical climates. Originally from Africa, bitter melon is now frequently cultivated in our country due to increasing demand. 
Bitter melon contains a wide variety of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin C, calcium, potassium, zinc, iron, copper, and phosphorus.
