It is a plant commonly found in our country. It is a volatile oil obtained from the leaves of the rosemary plant through the distillation method. It contains active ingredients such as cineole, camphene, and borneol.

Areas of Use

Internal: Suitable for internal use. It is recommended to take 1-2 drops of oil dropped into water.

External:

• When used with fixed oils, it becomes one of the products used naturally in hair care products. With regular use, it can repair hair while also promoting its growth.
• A few drops of rosemary essential oil mixed with a suitable carrier oil can support skin tone balancing.
• It can increase mental activity. When applied to the wrists and smelled during stressful situations, it can provide relaxation.

Volatility and Stability in Oils

Fixed Oil

• Liquid products usually obtained from the fruits and seeds of plants.
• They are odorless. They are used as carriers in volatile oils. They are obtained by pressing, extraction, and maceration methods. Fixed oils are used alone. Depending on the properties of the oils, they are used internally and externally. Since it is a fixed oil, it leaves a stain when dropped.

Essential Oil

• Essential oil is a natural product obtained from the leaf, fruit, peel, or root parts of plants, liquid at room temperature, usually colorless or light yellow, volatile, and strongly fragrant.
• They have their own characteristic scents. They are obtained by the water/steam distillation method. Essential oils are not used alone. They must be diluted with fixed oils in certain ratios. Except for exceptions, they are not used internally. Because they are volatile, they do not leave a stain where dropped.

Methods of Obtaining Oils

Cold Pressing

The process of crushing the usually seed parts of plants rich in fixed oil with the help of a press to extract their oil. In the cold press method, since the beneficial and valuable contents in the oil are not lost, the quality of the produced oil is high.

Steam Distillation

The process carried out with steam distillation; placing plants, fresh or dry, into a container with a separate basket inside, boiling the water below and passing it as steam through the plants, then cooling this steam again to separate the essential oil and the water carrying the beneficial properties of the distilled plant residue, known as hydrosol (flower water).

Maceration

Maceration is oily mixtures prepared by letting herbal drugs, after being broken down, sit in a fixed oil for a period. It is a method of separating natural plant components that pass into the fixed oil.
