Historical records report that thyme was first cultivated around 2000 BC in what is now Iraq. Its name originates from the Greek word "Thymus," which means "courage" in Greek. The ancient Greeks adorned their warriors with thyme before sending them to battle to give them courage.

In ancient Egypt, thyme was used during the mummification process. The Romans used thyme for healing. They believed that the spice-scented thyme oil protected a person against the risk of contracting diseases and was also beneficial for many spiritual and physical complaints.

Just as they believed, thyme oil is known and superior as the best compared to many other antiseptics due to its magnificent germ-killing effect. For this reason, thyme oil is also used in many soaps.

Thyme oil is an excellent immune system booster. It supports digestion and helps stimulate appetite.

In cosmetics, thyme oil can be seen used in perfumes, aftershaves, and tonics.

Approximately 1 liter of thyme essential oil is obtained from 120 kilograms of flowering thyme herb through the steam distillation method.

• Thyme oil is antibacterial and antifungal in a physical sense.
• Due to its strong antiseptic and anti-parasitic properties, it is effective in killing germs and bacteria in the air.
• When inhaled through the air, it provides, stabilizes, and strengthens internal balance.
• Its scent is appetizing and stimulates blood pressure. Therefore, if there are blood pressure complaints, it should be exposed in low doses.
• The scent of thyme oil provides tranquility and is also a very effective memory enhancer. It helps with focus.
• When thyme oil is mixed with rose oil, it nourishes the soul, and a very pleasant floral scent will envelop the surroundings.
• It can also be used against parasites in cats and dogs.
• You can add a few drops of thyme oil to the cleaning water when mopping your floors. Its antibacterial property will be useful.
• It can be mixed with carrier oils and applied via massage to the area where pain is felt.

Thyme oil blends well with lemon, lavender, and peppermint oils; you can easily use it in a diffuser with these oils.

Reminder: Since thyme oil is an essential oil, it may cause allergic effects such as redness and burning on the skin. Therefore, it should be mixed with carrier oils before use.
