Preparing the Ottman coffee:
1. Measure the Water:
Measure the amount of water needed per serving. For a traditional cup, about 1 demitasse cup (equal to around 50-60ml) is typical.
2. Add Water to the Cezve:
Pour the measured water into the cezve, a small long-handled pot specially designed for brewing Turkish coffee.
3. Add Coffee and Sugar:
Add 1-2 teaspoons of coffee per serving into the water in the cezve. Adjust the amount based on your taste preference. If desired, add sugar to taste.
4. Heat the Coffee:
Place the cezve on low heat. Allow the coffee to slowly heat up without boiling. Let it simmer, ensuring it doesn’t overflow.
5. Watch for the Froth:
As the coffee heats, a foamy layer will form. Before it begins to rise, remove the cezve from the heat. Wait for a moment to allow the grounds to settle.
6. Serve:
Pour the coffee into small cups, ensuring to distribution of the foam evenly. Allow a moment for the grounds to settle before enjoying this rich and flavorful coffee!
